Can I order a custom window well cover anywhere in Canada?
Yes. Custom covers can be prepared for customers across Canada. Shipping depends on the cover size, destination and project requirements.
What do I need to send for a custom cover estimate?
Send your approximate measurements, clear photos of the well and surrounding wall, your location, and details about the window. Start an estimate and include any unusual shape or obstruction.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is quoted for the specific cover and destination. Size, packaging and delivery location can affect the cost, so include your postal code and measurements with your request.
How long does a custom cover take to arrive?
Production and delivery times depend on the design, current workload and destination. Ask for the current timing when you request an estimate; we cannot give one reliable timeline for every order.
Do you sell ready-made standard sizes?
Custom covers are currently the main option. A range of quick-ship standard sizes is being developed, but those sizes have not been finalized. Send your measurements so we can advise on the current options.
Are the covers made in Canada?
Yes. Window Well Covers manufactures its custom polycarbonate covers in Canada and can arrange ordering for customers across the country.

Measurements & Fit
How do I measure a window well for a cover?
Start with A: the width along the foundation wall; B: the projection from the wall to the outer edge; and C: the height from the bottom to the top edge of the well. Send overhead and side-view photos too. These starting measurements help with an estimate; the final design may require more detail.
What if my window well has an unusual shape?
Send photos and measurements from several points, including any curves, corners, brick, siding, trim or nearby obstructions. A custom cover can be assessed around the actual opening rather than assuming a standard rectangle.
Can I send photos taken with my phone?
Yes. Include one view of the entire well, one from above, one from the side, and close-ups of anything that could affect the fit. If the window opens outward, show it fully open.
Can you replace an old or damaged window well cover?
Yes, replacement projects can be reviewed. Send photos of the current cover and the exposed well, along with its measurements. The new design should be based on the opening, not only the dimensions of a poorly fitting old cover.
What if I am unsure which cover design I need?
Start with the way your basement window opens. A standard custom cover suits many wells; an outward-opening window may need a raised design. Compare cover options and send photos before choosing.

Why use clear polycarbonate?
Clear polycarbonate combines outdoor durability with light transmission, helping protect the well without unnecessarily darkening the basement window.
Will a cover keep all water out?
A properly fitted cover can significantly reduce rain and snow entering the well, but it should not replace proper drainage or grading around the foundation.
Will a cover help with snow and leaves?
A fitted cover helps reduce snow, leaves and debris collecting inside the well. Keep drainage and surrounding grade in good condition; the cover is only one part of protecting the basement opening.
What warranty comes with a cover?
The popular 3 mm UV-coated polycarbonate cover is backed by a 15-year warranty against cracking and breakage. Confirm the terms for the exact product in your estimate before ordering.
What if my basement window is an emergency exit?
The window must retain its required opening and the cover must allow inside access. A custom Atrium (Dome) style design may provide clearance for an outward-opening window. Requirements depend on the complete installation and local jurisdiction; see the egress cover guide and have the property assessed.
Is measuring and installation available outside Ontario?
Local measuring and installation are available in the GTA and parts of Southern Ontario, depending on the project. Customers elsewhere in Canada can ask about a made-to-measure cover shipped from supplied measurements; include your location so the available service can be confirmed.
