How to Measure Your Window Well for a Custom Cover
Three measurements and a few clear photos give us a useful starting point. You do not need to choose a cover shape before sharing the details.
Start With A, B and C
Measure the actual well, not just the basement window. Note the unit you used, such as inches or centimetres, and tell us if an edge curves or tapers.
AWidth, side to side, where the well meets the house wall.
BProjection, from the house wall to the outside edge of the well.
CWell height, from the bottom of the well to its top edge.
These are starting dimensions for an estimate. Final cover sizing may need additional measurements after the shape and mounting surface are reviewed.

What to Show in Your Photos
Wall and trim
Include brick, siding, stone, vents, pipes, window trim or other features near the mounting area.
Space around the well
Show nearby steps, railings, walkways and landscaping that might affect projection or opening clearance.
EGRESS WINDOWS
Tell Us if the Window Is an Emergency Exit
An egress window needs room to open, and a cover must be considered with the complete window and well arrangement. Include a photo showing how the window swings and explain any clearance or inside-release needs. Requirements vary by location and installation; confirm compliance with your local authority.
